Farm Dairy Effluent: System Design and Management
This is a three day Professional Development course for industry practitioners, rural professionals, regulatory and governance personnel and scientists engaged in providing advice relating to the design, management and auditing of farm dairy effluent (FDE) systems. To be up to the challenge, participants should have significant practical or professional experience in dairy systems design and/or management (you may need to confirm with us that your experience is appropriate).

Course dates
Semester 2 - 7 August 2023. Compulsory in person contact course component on 6 & 7 September 2023. Enrolments are not yet open.
Entry requirements:
Participants should have significant practical or professional experience in dealing with land application systems for FDE.
Participants must complete two assignments, attend a two-day contact course and sit a written examination.
The course fee is inclusive of morning/afternoon teas and lunches. It is up to each participant to arrange their own accommodation.
The two-day contact course is a mix of lectures, tutorials, working with case studies and discussion. Typically, course size is between 20-25 participants.
We require that each person bring a laptop computer for the purpose of running the 'Dairy Effluent Storage Calculator’. The hardware and software requirements of a laptop to run the calculator are contained in the download instructions which can be accessed from the page here.
The study guide, instructions and supplementary information will be on the online stream site. It is anticipated that participants may spend a significant amount of time in pre-course study to refresh their knowledge of the study guide material.
To be eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion in 'Farm Dairy Effluent: System Design and Management’ participants must attend all sessions of the contact course and be awarded a satisfactory grade for the course - inclusive of the two assignments and the exam.
